The province’s residents are being advised to prepare for weather-related impacts, including:
- Increased air temperatures, with the potential for extreme heat
- Higher fire risk, compounded by a drier winter so far
- Additional strain on water resources
During the ripening period (veraison to harvest), vineyards are typically an easy and welcome food source for birds. The higher temperatures forecast for this season are likely to make vineyards even more attractive, as birds seek both food and water. With budding already up to two weeks ahead of schedule, growers can also expect earlier harvest dates.
